Overview

Links Cafe, nestled in the heart of Medan Kota along Jl. Sun Yat Sen No.81, offers a calm retreat from the city's hustle. This coffee shop is more than just a place to grab a cup of coffee; it’s designed to be a social hub for friends, families, and food lovers seeking a relaxed ambiance paired with a diverse menu.

The space is welcoming and spacious, with both indoor seating boasting cozy floodlit interiors cooled by air conditioning and outdoor options for those who prefer a natural breeze. This flexibility caters well to varied customer preferences, whether you want to work quietly, catch up with friends, or enjoy a casual meal.

When it comes to the menu, Links Cafe excels with its standout dishes and beverages. The Chocolate Waffle and French Toast are repeatedly praised for their perfect balance—crispy on the outside and tender within—making them the cafe’s undeniable forte. Complemented with light whipped cream or ice cream, these items highlight the cafe’s flair for comforting classic treats.

For main dishes, the Nasi Goreng Kampung Links and Indomie Sambal Mata bring local Indonesian flavors to the table, capturing authentic spice and savoriness. While some customers note occasional inconsistencies—such as smaller chicken portions or a bland seafood spaghetti—the quality and taste largely remain satisfying, underpinning the cafe’s role as a casual dining spot rather than fine dining.

The coffee and beverage options further define the experience. Traditional favorites like Hot Latte and Iced Americano sit alongside adventurous choices such as Avocado Coffee and the uniquely crafted Matcha Strawberry. Though the latter received mixed feedback due to its unconventional layering and mild matcha flavor, it showcases the brand’s innovative approach to fusion flavors. This blend of conventional and creative drinks appeals to diverse palates and encourages exploration.

Links Cafe also shines in its approachable service, with attentive staff creating a friendly environment. Electronic payments and cash are both accepted, adding convenience for visitors. However, the biggest challenge remains parking—roadside spots can get crowded, especially on weekdays, reflecting the cafe’s popularity and urban setting limitations.

Ultimately, Links Cafe is tailored for those who appreciate a laid-back atmosphere combined with a variety of well-executed comfort foods and specialty coffees. It marries the charm of a neighborhood coffee shop with a menu that thoughtfully bridges local favorites and global cafe culture. Whether stopping by for a crisp waffle or a hearty plate of nasi goreng, patrons can expect a fulfilling and consistent experience in this vibrant Medan locale.

Mie Goreng Belacan is tasty, cooked well Matcha Strawberry drink tastes weird with super plain matcha on top and strawberry jam at the bottom that hardly mix. Barely a taste of matcha in it. Waffle is greatly cooked, puffy and crispy. I ordered the latest Lemon Yuzu Waffle. The sliced caramelized lemon didn't served as display. For me, the taste of Yuzu Lemon ice reminded me of eating lemon cream from canned biscuits on younger age and unfortunately one of my dislikes. I'd prefer having some safe options like Oreo, Chocolate or Matcha on my next visit. Interior was very cozy in the evening with flood lights and cold AC. May get very noisy when crowded so we left earlier.

Pretty decent place. Food was decent overall and service was great. Ayam/mie goreng special links were pretty decent. Chicken was on the smaller side though unfortunately. Spaghetti w/ mushroom was very bland. Wasnt a fan at all. Calamari and fries were great! Waffle was a bit on the drier side. Maybe use a bit more whipped cream or ice cream? Still an okay place to hang out with friends though as they offer quite a variety of food options

I can confidently say that their waffles and french toasts are definitely their forté. You MUST try them out, they're balanced in every aspects. Everything else are pretty standard or mediocre, nothing too big. However, I think their biggest problem is definitely parking. I could say it's not horrendous, but it's not good either. But there's nothing we can do about it since the location itself isn't really supportive of it.

Love the waffle. Pizza was ok. Oyakodon was overly sweet. Big no. It was more like rice with sweet soy sauce instead of japanese oyakodon.
